Can green coffee help lower blood glucose level in diabetics?

Weight loss benefits of Green Coffee Pure in UK have been discussed a lot by everyone from nutritionist to celebrities. But, apart from fat-burning properties, the unroasted coffee beans also have other health benefits. Latest study conducted in University of Scranton in Pennsylvania has found that the extract from these coffee beans can help lower blood glucose levels, which makes it ideal for helping diabetics control and manage their condition.

Diabetes is a disease in which pancreas does not produce enough of the insulin. Insufficient insulin in the body triggers the body to use sugar, which leads to increased blood sugar level. High blood sugar level in body invites several other illnesses like heart attacks and stroke. The treatment for the condition is mainly dependent on controlling blood sugar levels and losing weight to reduce insulin resistance.
Research team conducted a human study in which participants were supposed to consume green coffee extract over a period of 22 weeks. After the completion of the study, it was found that participants who took the extract regularly lost about 10% of their body weight. On further investigation, it was found that the extract also had effect in blood glucose level.

To build on the observation, study authors fed the extract to male and female participants of normal weight and without diabetes. It was observed that the extract was successful in lowering the level of blood sugar in every participant. Researchers attributed the results to chlorogenic acid, which is present in high concentration in unroasted coffee extract.

Basically, chlorogenic acid inhibits the release of the G6P enzyme in the body. By hindering the production of this enzyme blood sugar levels stabilize. It is already known that diabetics should control their weight for proper management of the condition, so if they buy green coffee, they can have dual benefit – weight loss as well as low blood glucose levels.
